" I watched it with all my dreams and awkenings,...
with all my joys, sorrows and passionate silences of my Being...
I watched it and I could not fall asleep....
I could have watched it all my life...
I am watching it still."

- Christine (Oct 2007)

HER STORY

MY CAREER
I love what I do. I have worked in television since 2005 with clients from MTV, VH1, GSN, Food Network, SpikeTV, etc... While my career has seen many iterations from her days as an exhibiting artist and dance company dancer turned Art Director; I knew that my passion for storytelling and photography, would eventually equate to working in the field behind a lens. Post MFA at the School of Visual Arts, my first break came in the commercial industry in Hawai'i- assisting in casting, production and post-production at advertising/ marketing firms. Independently, I have formidable expertise as a "predator" and have shot/edited/narrated a diverse scope of projects. My first tv show was on VH-1's hidden camera show, Motormouth ; and since, I've shot and interviewed everyone from go-go dancers, beauty queens, insecure teens, celebrities and athletes.

The TRAVELER

A native of Hawaii, I live between New York City and Hawai'i and love that my work and time often allows the opportunity to experience different cultures and travel. Being hapa (I am a rich blend of Japanese, Native Hawaiian, German & Chinese) my appreciation for cultural diversity began at home. I can navigate cuisine via chopsticks, poi fingers and traditional western silverware!

I have an internal GPS, I speak fluent local Hawaiian pidgin and know enough "broken bits" of Spanish, French, Japanese & German to get me around. I have lived in Hawai'i, Los Angeles, St. Louis and now New York. I have recently been to Morocco and have backpacked solo through India and Nepal. The constant adventure of meeting-working with new people and new lifestyles continually inspires me to living a good story!"

The CONCEPTUAL ARTIST

I have had a love and natural talent for crafting narratives and concepts since childhood such that I could always utilize the nearest medium available to me as a tool for expression. From found objects to writing, installation and performance to photography and video- my tools as a conceptual artist are always interchangeable but creating and communicating strong visual concepts, that is my gold penny.

Christine's video works have screened at BAM, Engine 27, Remote Lounge, and international film festivals such as V1B3 Summer 05: Video In the Built Environment Project, Film Festival of Antwerp, DANSCAMDANSE International Video Festival, Vortice Argentina Festival, to name a few... Her thesis project, The Listening Pillow (an interactive video installation inviting audience members to navigate a simulated video dreaming experience via head movements upon a pillow and bed) garnered her the recognition of being honored as one of the "New Leonardos" in presentation of The NY Digital Salon 2003. A prior career as a dancer of a dance company she is a HSDC award recipient for her choreography and has staged performances at art venues and internationally. Her photography is represented by Salon 5 Gallery, Honolulu.

Additionally, Christine offer her spare time to volunteering when she can. Quick to take on projects that support the voice of innovative and asian artists as well as, organizations dealing with crisis related issues such as child education awareness, women's empowerment and clean water.
